Is this game licenced and approved by Michael Moorcock?
The Department has held the Elric licence for almost ten years and under this agreement we have published Mournblade (a tabletop roleplaying game set in the world of Elric and the Young Kingdoms) and recently crowdfunded a Hawkmoon roleplaying game. Elric: Rise of the Young Kingdoms is an official game approved by Michael Moorcock. Moreover, the author let us know that he was looking forward to discover the game !

Why do a similar campaign on Ulule ?
Elric: Rise of the Young Kingdoms being our first board game, it was imperative that it be proposed on Kickstarter to reach all fans. But Ulule is the most famous crowdfunding platform in France, where we live. It’s where we financed our last two JDRs (each of them having raised more than 100 000 €). Since our European community is based on this site, we followed the example of Studio Agate who jointly organized two campaigns for Creatures, one on each side of the Atlantic. The proposals are identical on both sites, so choose the one that interests you!

In what languages will the game be released in?
For this campaign on Kickstarter and Ulule, Elric: Rise of the Young Kingdoms will be released in English and in French. The rules, the cards and some elements of the game may be translated into other languages later, depending on the success of the Kickstarter. You can choose the language of the game on the pledge manager.

Will the game be released in retail stores?
While it is our intention to offer Elric: Rise of the Young Kingdoms to retailers, we cannot guarantee that this will be possible at this time. We are initially focusing on delivering of this Kickstarter to you, the backers of the campaign, but hope to engage with distributors and retailers in the near future.

I see that there has already been a crowdfunding for this game, on Kickstarter. How come and why are there a number of differences between the two proposals?
Indeed, we launched a first campaign in May 2022. It was doing well, but we preferred to stop it ourselves after receiving several good and wise comments about our offer. So, this new attempt is closer to the community’s expectations!

What size are the game’s miniatures and tiles?
The Elric model is 70mm (2.75 inches) in height, while the player nation’s heroes (and the warrior miniatures common to all kingdoms) will be 40mm (1.6 inches). Elric’s companions miniatures are also 40mm (1.6 inches). The game’s ‘shape’ tiles are 180mm (7.1 inches) in diameter.

What are the dimensions and weight of the game core box?
Currently, the box is to be 305 by 305mm (12x12 inches) in size and 115mm (4.5inches) in height. It weighs 5kg. It is likely that the additional content that this campaign unlocks will require us to design a larger box (which will also be heavier), but we will keep you informed if this is the case!

Will there be any opportunity to buy the Kickstarter exclusives elsewhere in the future?
Should we have any copies of the Kickstarter exclusives available after the campaign is fulfilled, these may be made via the Department’s online store (at a date to be determined). Of course, by backing this Kickstarter, not only will you unlock more exclusives, but you will also get them sooner and cheaper than any sold online.

About the Tabletopia prototype…
We at Le Department are committed to diversity in our games. Please note that the specific tabletopia build is only a tutorial scenario used to help explain and showcase unique mechanics that would be beneficial for the players to experience in a demo-like setting. While all of our characters offer great gameplay, these four help set the tone in a way we feel is indicative of the thematic experience! We absolutely encourage playing with all the characters once the game is fulfilled, but in the meantime please note this is something we take very seriously and want to offer Elric: Rise of the Young Kingdoms to everyone, not just a few.

Why is the offer different than the first version of this KS (and more expensive) ?
The offer is different from the first version, so it is not at the same price. The offer of this new campaign is richer, more complete. Moreover, as you know, the current economic situation is increasing the costs of manufacturing and transportation. Also the costs have increased significantly. However, we have kept our prices as low as possible so that you can discover Elric without money being (too) a brake !

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
